NOSTALGIA REUNION – AUGUST 19, 2006

Thirteen motorcycle racers turned out for the highly popular “Nostalgia Reunion – Saturday Shootout”, sponsored by Leon’s Car Care Center.  With the racers all bundled up in their ski jackets and parkas (in an attempt to keep warm on the unseasonably cold day), the day began with qualifying.  In a tight battle with James Surber, Leif Magnussen managed an .025 reaction time to earn the #1 Qualifier award, narrowly bettering Surber’s R/T of .029.

Eliminations were a repeat of the Magnussen/Surber battle in qualifying, with Magnussen again coming out on top – defeating Surber in the final round aboard his Suzuki GS1100.  Semi-finalists were Ronny Klewin (Unlucky Racing) and relative new-comer Jess Walls.

With his final round appearance, Magnussen made an upward move in the points and Surber, having competed in only 7 of the 11 races this season, managed to narrowly overtake Mike Pettit as the current points leader (279-277 points, respectively)..

More racing follows tomorrow, for the “Samoa Challenge Cup”, sponsored by AAMCO Transmissions.
