SNAP-ON TOOLS ELIMINATOR – JULY 10, 2005

A new face smiled in the winner’s circle today as Hans Tautscher earned his 1st win of the 2005 season, defeating Jeff Daniel in the final round of the Snap-On Tools Eliminator at the Samoa Dragstrip.  Tautscher’s weekend started on Saturday with a runner-up finish to “Bomber” John Widmann in the King of the Hill race.  Widmann won the race, but a mechanical failure prevented him from competing on Sunday.  Tautscher’s two final round appearances this weekend quickly vaulted him to 2nd place in overall points for the season.  Semi-Finalists were Mike Pires and James Surber, who defeated #1 Qualifier Wayne Cox in the first round by a mere .001 seconds, a winning margin of 6/10ths of an inch at the finish line!

In the “Full Throttle” Gambler’s Bracket, Mike “Sport” Burns (who earlier in the day posted a 9.80 second ET aboard his street legal Kawasaki ZX10!!) defeated George Brooks Sr.

As the season approaches the end of the 1st half, the Sportsman Motorcycle Class has developed a loyal group of racers and supporters who expect no less that excellent, close racing every weekend.  We would like to extend our appreciation to the class sponsors who made this class possible;  Redwood Harley-Davidson, Eureka Motorsports Center / O&E Cycle Inc., and Humboldt Performance Cycle.  Thank-you for your support!!

The next event, the “Boss Eliminator” is scheduled for July 24, 2005.
