RUN-TUFF ELIMINATOR - MAY 1, 2005

"Bomber" John Widmann, NHRA Division 7 Kerker motorcycle champion in 2002 and 2004, and the runner up finisher at the 2000 World Finals in Pomona, continued his domination of the Sportsman Motorcycle Class by winning his 2nd final round victory of the season.

In the final, Widmann - aboard his 1997 Kawasaki "Ninja", narrowly defeated Mike Burns (a 1st time finalist) on his 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10.  After passing Burns while approaching the speed trap, Widmann backed out of the throttle to ensure he didn't break out.  Burns, however, maintained his speed (140 mph) and almost caught Widmann at the finish line.  Widmann's margin of victory was calculated to be a mere 4'9".  A great final round to cap ofF another great day of racing at the Samoa Dragstrip!  Semi-finalists were George Brooks Sr. and Kirk Speelman – who also captured the #1 qualifier award with an excellent .005 reaction time during qualifications.

In the “Full Throttle” Gambler’s Bracket, Wayne Cox of Black & White Motorsports defeated Jed Hess.
